Group Program FAQ’s
Q. Does my child need a referral from their doctor/pediatrician to access occupational therapy?
A. You can self-refer to occupational therapy but check with your insurance provider if they require a physician’s referral.
Q. Are groups or programs covered by insurance?
A. Many extended health insurance companies will provide occupational therapy coverage (ie. Blue Cross, Manulife) and we encourage you to check your policy. We provide receipts that you can submit to your insurance.
Q. Does my child need to have had an occupational therapy assessment before attending a group program?
A. If they have never been assessed we can assist you with this. There is a 30 minute phone consult completed with the parent/caregiver prior to all groups.
Q. How do I know if my child could benefit from occupational therapy?
A. If your daycare or school has flagged developmental delays or academic difficulties, or you notice sensory processing issues, challenges in daily activities like self-care skills or social/play skills, or difficulty with transitions and emotional regulation, your child would likely benefit. You can book a free consult with us to discuss more.
